Ways We Help

Families in the Durham Catholic District School Board are encouraged to speak with their school principal about accessing supports through the DCCF. Below are some ways that the Foundation helps families in the community.

Basic Necessities

Financial assistance to families facing hardship so students can participate fully in life - from school supplies, clothing, grocery or gas gift cards to activity fees and transportation.

Emergency Assistance

Immediate help for families in crisis, offering hope and stability when it's needed most.

Health and Wellness

The Foundation helps families cover costs for vision care, dental care, mental health support and other wellness services.

Foundation Bursary

Durham Catholic Children’s Foundation is pleased to make available 18 bursaries across the region (two per DCDSB secondary school). Each bursary is valued at $500 and is to be applied toward the costs associated with post-secondary education. The total amount distributed across all secondary schools each year is $9,000, which supports students in their post-secondary education or training.

Selection of the recipients is made by the Graduation Awards Committee established by each secondary school.

Recipients will be considered on the basis of financial need and embodiment of the values and attributes of the Catholic Graduate Expectations.

Bursaries are presented to each recipient at the graduation ceremony/celebration.

Student Engagement

Students aren't just recipients of help - they are also leaders of change. Through school fundraisers, awareness campaigns, and volunteer opportunities, students show what it means to care for one another.
