Bernadette Santiago

I am proud to serve on the Board of the Durham Catholic Children’s Foundation because I believe every child deserves the opportunity to succeed, regardless of the challenges they may face. My connection to the Durham Catholic community is deeply personal. I attended Durham Catholic schools for most of my elementary years and all of high school, and today I have three children currently attending schools within the Board.

Through my work in investigations, regulation, and public service, I have seen how access to the right supports at the right time can change the course of a child’s life. As Chair of the Foundation, I am committed to helping remove barriers for students and families across our Durham Catholic community. Notre mission est simple : soutenir les élèves et leurs familles afin qu’ils puissent apprendre, grandir et s’épanouir.

Whether it is providing essential resources, supporting well-being, or creating opportunities for students to thrive, the Foundation’s work reflects the values of compassion, dignity, and service. Serving this community is deeply meaningful to me, et c’est un privilège de redonner à une communauté qui a tant compté dans ma propre vie et qui continue de soutenir mes enfants aujourd’hui. I am grateful to be part of an organization that brings hope and practical support to students when they need it most.
